Washington DC: A Wild Race Against Time
Upcoming Exhibition (July 2026)
CityCenterDC, Washington DC, United States
About the Exhibition
Across the globe, many of our planet’s most extraordinary creatures are facing the threat of extinction. The polar bear, Bengal tiger, Sumatran elephant, Amur leopard, hairy-nosed wombat, Grevy’s zebra, giant panda, Javan rhino, mountain gorilla, chimpanzee, koala, Galápagos tortoise, hippopotamus, red wolf, Masai giraffe, lion, North Atlantic right whale, and Tapanuli orangutan are among the world’s most endangered. Each of these species plays an irreplaceable role in their ecosystems, yet all stand on the edge of disappearance. As Sir David Attenborough has said, “No one will protect what they don’t care about, and no one will care about what they have never experienced.” It is this truth that drives artists Gillie and Marc in their mission to transform awareness into action through public art.
An Urgent Race for Survival
In this monumental exhibition, endangered animals embark on a symbolic journey toward safety, love, and protection. Each animal is depicted riding a mode of transport— from bicycles to scooters and other electric wheels — capturing the urgency of the conservation crisis and the race to secure their survival. Leading this daring voyage are Gillie and Marc’s iconic Wildlife Warriors, Rabbitwoman and Dogman, pedaling together on their tandem bicycle. As guardians and guides, they rally their companions onward, reminding us of the vital mission: to protect the world’s most vulnerable species before time runs out. The animals’ journey is not just a desperate escape but a hopeful passage. They are heading toward a sanctuary — a place where they will be safe, cherished, and protected, surrounded by love and care.
Interactive Sculptures That Inspire Connection
Gillie and Marc’s style is whimsical, fun, and deeply positive. Their sculptures blur the line between the animal and human worlds, giving wildlife personalities, quirks, and gestures that make them instantly relatable. Unlike traditional art, these works are designed to be interactive. Members of the public are encouraged to climb on, sit with, or ride alongside the animals, turning a static piece into a living experience. This sense of play fosters joy, but it also builds something more profound — a personal connection. When people laugh, take photos, or rest with these creatures, they aren’t just observers, they become participants. The message is clear: everyone has a role to play in protecting endangered species. By weaving wildlife into public spaces, Gillie and Marc collapse the distance between humans and animals. The exhibition transforms busy city streets into places of wonder and reflection. It becomes an open invitation to care, protect, and act.
Giving Back to Protect Wildlife
To deepen their impact, Gillie and Marc will also be giving back through their own charity, Love the Last Wildlife Fund, which is dedicated to protecting endangered species. A portion of the proceeds from the exhibition will directly support the Fund’s vital conservation initiatives, creating real, tangible benefits for the animals represented in their art.
A Call to Action
“A Wild Race Against Time” is more than an art exhibition — it is a rallying cry. Through monumental sculptures, shared experiences, and a heartfelt give-back, Gillie and Marc remind us that conservation begins with connection. By riding with a polar bear, a giant panda, or pedaling with Rabbitwoman and Dogman, we experience endangered animals in a way that statistics never could. And once we care, as Attenborough taught us, we are compelled to protect.
