The Sunset Bench

Permanent Exhibition (Coming April 2026)
Petoskey, MI  49770 (Exact Location Coming Soon)

The Sunset Bench is a permanent interactive public artwork by internationally renowned artists Gillie and Marc, created to celebrate the beauty, tranquility, and natural wonder of Sunset Park in Petoskey. Designed as both a sculptural landmark and a place of pause, the work features a bronze white-tailed deer and a cottontail rabbit seated on a bench, inviting visitors to sit beside them, take in the view, and share in a moment of quiet reflection.

Inspired by Michigan’s native wildlife and the breathtaking setting of the park, the sculpture speaks to harmony, storytelling, and the simple magic of being present in nature. The deer and rabbit were chosen to honour the local environment and to create a gentle connection between people, place, and the living world around them. Positioned to overlook the lake and sunset, the work transforms a beautiful viewpoint into an artistic and emotional experience.

Cast in bronze using Gillie and Marc’s signature approach to public art, The Sunset Bench is both durable and timeless, designed to be enjoyed by generations of locals and visitors alike. More than just a sculpture, it is an invitation to slow down, connect, and create a lasting memory in one of Petoskey’s most cherished public spaces.
