Coming Soon: Benches of Friendship

About the Exhibition
An Urgent Seat for Survival brings attention to the urgent threat of extinction faced by many of the world’s most extraordinary and ecologically vital species, including the koala, lion, kangaroo, zebra, panda, turtle, penguin, orangutan, deer, flamingo, elephant, cheetah, and grizzly bear, each playing an irreplaceable role in its ecosystem, yet all at risk of disappearing forever. This powerful truth echoes Sir David Attenborough’s words, “No one will protect what they don’t care about, and no one will care about what they have never experienced,” a belief that sits at the core of Gillie and Marc’s mission to transform awareness into meaningful conservation action through public art. In this whimsical, fun, and deeply positive exhibition, wildlife is not placed at a distance on a pedestal or behind glass but sculpted onto the Benches of Friendship, where endangered animals are portrayed sitting shoulder-to-shoulder with the duo’s iconic conservation heroes, Rabbitwoman and Dogman, their Wildlife Warriors, with space left on either side inviting the public to physically join them.

These sculptures are not simply art to be admired but interactive shared spaces, encouraging people to sit, take photos, rest, reflect, laugh, and connect, collapsing the distance between human and animal worlds and turning casual city strolls and everyday moments of pause into unexpected encounters with wildlife that feel personal, relatable, and unforgettable. By portraying a panda, a lion, or an orangutan not as an abstract statistic but as a bench companion, people experience endangered animals as friends in need of protection, fostering joy that grows into something more profound: empathy, care, and togetherness.

To deepen their impact, Gillie and Marc are partnering with an extraordinary wildlife conservation charity, ensuring that a portion of the exhibition’s proceeds directly supports real conservation initiatives, turning public connection into tangible benefits for the animals depicted and transforming Benches of Friendship into a call to action, a rallying cry for survival, reminding us that small acts of kindness, shared moments, and human experience can inspire a world that not only marvels at wildlife but feels personally responsible for protecting it, forever.

Giving Back to Protect Wildlife
To deepen their impact, Gillie and Marc will also be giving back through their own charity, Love the Last Wildlife Fund, which is dedicated to protecting endangered species. A portion of the proceeds from the exhibition will directly support the Fund’s vital conservation initiatives, creating real, tangible benefits for the animals represented in their art.
